Aeon Mall Long Bien is a major shopping center in Hanoi, part of the renowned Aeon Mall chain from Japan. Located on Co Linh Road, just 5 kilometers east of Hanoi's city center, Aeon Mall Long Bien was inaugurated in October 2015. With an area of approximately 5.6 hectares, it is Aeon’s first mall in Hanoi and the third in Vietnam.

In October 2021, with the goal of supplying a significant portion of the shopping center’s energy needs from clean energy sources and reducing reliance on the national grid, the rooftop solar power system project was initiated by the investor Aeon Mall Long Bien, with Hawee Energy as the main contractor.

However, a challenge faced by the company's engineers was that according to Vietnamese law, Aeon Mall Long Bien is classified as a Level I structure (serving more than 10,000 people), which requires adherence to higher technical and safety standards. Additionally, at the time of construction, Aeon Mall Long Bien was still under the warranty of Obayashi Corporation, one of Japan's leading construction contractors. This added another layer of difficulty as the construction team had to convince the general contractor that the installation process would not affect the components currently under warranty.

Upon receiving the project status information, Hawee Energy's engineers promptly organized meetings and conducted surveys to present technical solutions that ensured the safety of the mall’s daily operations and did not impact critical components such as the building structure or waterproofing, which were under warranty by Obayashi Corporation. The stringent legal procedures, coupled with the requirement to carry out construction on the roof while ensuring the safety of customers visiting the mall, extended the project timeline.

However, with the high technical expertise of our engineers - proven through projects such as the Tan A Ha Nam factory, Hong Liem 3, TTC Duc Hue 1, Binh Nguyen, etc - and their determination to complete the project, Hawee Energy successfully achieved the goal in May 2022 by installing the solar panel system on the roof of Aeon Mall Long Bien and handing it over to the investor for use.

All of the solar panels used by the company are from the SunPower Performance P6-COM-M-BF series by SunPower, a leading manufacturer in the solar energy market. These panels belong to the Performance Series, renowned for their durability and high efficiency. They are designed with advanced shingled cell technology, which enhances energy production and reliability, particularly in partially shaded conditions. Additionally, these panels are engineered to withstand environmental stresses such as temperature fluctuations and heavy snow or wind loads, making them an ideal choice for large commercial installations. SunPower also offers a warranty on the Performance P6-COM-M-BF panels, providing 12 years of product coverage and 30 years of performance coverage.

The inverters for the project were carefully selected by the company from the industry giant Huawei, which is recognized as one of the world's largest manufacturers of grid-tied inverters, with thousands of partners globally. Huawei inverters boast high efficiency, typically exceeding 98%, ensuring maximum energy extraction from solar panels. With their high durability, these inverters are suitable for various harsh environmental conditions and are scalable for different system sizes.

Building on this successful collaboration, in October 2023, another member of the Aeon Mall chain, Aeon Mall Ha Dong, chose Hawee Energy as the main contractor for its rooftop solar project.

Aeon Mall Ha Dong is a large shopping center located in the Duong Noi area of Ha Dong, Hanoi, and it opened in December 2019. It is Aeon's second shopping mall in Hanoi and fifth in Vietnam, with a floor area of approximately 150,000 square meters. Similar to the project at Aeon Mall Long Biên, Aeon Mall Ha Dong is classified as a Grade I structure, requiring stringent safety standards. The general contractor responsible for maintaining the building's structural integrity is Kajima Corporation, one of Japan's oldest and largest construction companies.

However, drawing on the experience from the Aeon Mall Long Bien project in ensuring the safe operation of the shopping mall without affecting the original structure under warranty by the General Contractor, in March 2024, the talented engineers of Hawee Energy successfully completed the rooftop solar power system at Aeon Mall Ha Dong.

For this project, the company continued to trust and utilize the SunPower Performance P6-COM-M-BF panels, similar to the Aeon Mall Long Biên project. Additionally, the company also employed HiKu7 Mono PERC CS7N-665MS panels from Canadian Solar, a reputable solar panel manufacturer in the market.

The rooftop solar projects at Aeon Mall shopping centers not only help reduce electricity costs but also play a significant role in lowering carbon emissions and protecting the environment. These systems not only alleviate pressure on the national power grid but also enhance energy efficiency in the region while promoting the use of renewable energy.
